COSMETIC TATTOO ELIGIBILITY CHECK

Eyebrow cosmetic tattooing  is an amazing procedure which is something that Kitti is very passionate about. However, before you book your appointment, please make sure you read ALL questions below to ensure you are a suitable candidate.

Kitti would hate for you to make an appointment, be all excited and only to be turned away on the day. This would make both of us very sad and disappointed.

If there are any other questions not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact Kitti on 0429667079 and she will get back to you asap.

ARE YOU A REGISTERED SKIN PENETRATION CLINIC?

Yes, Kitti Alexis  is approved by the council health department and Kitti follows very strict hygiene and safety protocols seeing as Kitti is also a registered nurse.

ARE MATURE/ OILY SKIN SUITED TO MICROBLADING?

Unfortunately mature clients are not ideal candidates for microblading because as we age, the skin becomes thinner and more frail which is prone to excess bleeding, which in turn dilutes pigment retention and possibly scarring. Oily skin is also not suited to microblading as the excess oil coming through the skin dilutes pigment which can result in blurry healed lines which can also bleed into each other over time and fade faster. However, Ombre/ Powder brow technique is more suitable as there is less trauma to fragile skin and increases pigment retention.

DO YOU TATTOO THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18?

Kitti is happy to perform a brow tattoo for those aged 16+. Kitti's policy is that 1 form of formal identification such as a driver’s licence/passport, and for a parent or guardian's written consent - with identification - to be present throughout the brow treatment process. The parent/guardian may wait outside the treatment room during treatment for infection control reasons.

CAN I HAVE THE PROCEDURE WHILST PREGNANT?

Kitti cannot tattoo anyone while pregnant, nor does Kitti recommend getting cosmetic tattooing while breast-feeding.  This is due to topical anaesthetics used. Failure to declare this in writing will render Kitti not liable  for any adverse reactions.

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Unfortunately, due to strict licensing laws, insurance purpose and the layout in Kitti’s studio, no children under the age of 18  years can accompany you to your brow/makeup appointment.

Kitti apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

CONSULTATIONS

The first part of the tattoo process is a consultation. This is normally done as part of your initial treatment; however, this can be done separately if you prefer. Separate consultation fee is $50 which is fully redeemable against the price of your tattoo should you decide to proceed. You will complete a medical history form, then Kitti will discuss with you in great detail about the brow look that you are trying to achieve and ideal styles that Kitti might recommend to you.  This is very much a two-way conversation. Kitti listens, responds and she advises you.  Once Kitti has an idea of the look you are aiming for, Kitti will draw the brows on you with a makeup pencil. These can be drawn on and adjusted 50 times if necessary! Kitti will never begin the tattoo process until you are completely happy with the shape, style and pigment colour choices.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A COSMETIC BROW TATTOO APPOINTMENT?

The initial procedure/appointment takes 3-4 hrs approximately, dependent on your existing brow hair density and the required passes of tattoo pigments. After consultation, Kitti will numb your skin with some anaesthetic cream/gel and check in on you throughout the treatment to ensure that you are comfortable. Kitti will mark out the  ideal brow shape on you, taking your facial features and shape into account.  Kitti will then choose a colour which suits your skin tone and features.

If you suffer from clinical OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), cosmetic tattoos may not be the best treatment for you as your eyebrows will NEVER be 100% identical. It is impossible to create 100% identical brows especially with Microblading as Kitti is replicating tiny hairstrokes.  Our faces are NOT symmetrical, and our eyebrows are supposed to be sisters, not twins. However, as a Brow Artist, Kitti aims to create as much symmetry as possible.

The area is marked with a surgical pen, then the semi-permanent pigment is applied with a hand-held tool. The pigment is placed into the upper layers of the dermis.

WHAT ARE THE PIGMENTS?

The pigments used have an Iron Oxide base, a safe non-reactive substance.  The cosmetic pigments are specifically manufactured for implantation into human skin. Kitti has a large selection of colours ranging from super light to super dark, colours which can also be custom mixed to find the perfect shade for you.  Kitti uses pigments imported from reputable manufacturers in the US and all have been tested by authorities which have been in use for over 20 years.  Product ingredients are listed on our bottles.

The final result will depend on 50% pigment colour you choose and 50% healing. Obviously if you choose a lighter colour, they are going to heal even lighter. Everyone's skin is COMPLETELY different, and we all heal very differently. Some people hold pigment much better than others, so you will get different degrees of fading. You may have one brow that heals perfect and the other that heals patchy. Even though Kitti does the EXACT same procedure on each and every individual, the results vary, and NO GUARANTEES can be made on how much pigment you will hold.

Colours will appear darker and more sharply defined immediately following the first procedure, then after approximately 7 – 10 days, the colours will lighten and soften. 40%. Most tattoo’s will have a flake off or clients will lose some of their colour in this time, this is entirely normal. Kitti finds that approx. 80% of clients need a Perfection Visit (touch up) 4-6 weeks after initial tattooing – this is to correct any healing issues that may have occurred and to also add dimension to the brow. This is why Kitti will ALWAYS advise you to book in a Perfection Visit to correct any healing issues that may occur. It is best to book in the Perfection Visit and if you find your brows heal amazing, you can always cancel the appointment (as long as you give us at least 72 hours’ notice).

PERFECTION VISIT

We must wait a full 4-6 weeks before the Perfection Visit is performed to allow the ink to fully settle into the skin. Kitti highly recommends booking in your Perfection Visit at the time of booking in your first appt as she can be booked up weeks in advance. Your first Perfection Touch Up for Microblading is $99.

It is RARE for a third visit to be required. However, if the optimum result is not achieved a 3rd visit may be required.  There is no fee for a third visit, but you MUST contact Kitti within 3 weeks since your last treatment and it MUST be completed within 6 weeks since the last treatment.  Out from the 6-week period it is strictly normal Touch Up prices. FREE Touch Ups are for HEALING ISSUES ONLY, IF YOU ARE WANTING TO SIMPLY CHANGE THE COLOUR IT IS A $99 FEE.

TOUCH UPS

The procedure is semi-permanent, so the pigment of your brows will begin to noticeably fade after 9-12 months. Your Tattoo will need to be maintained (Touch Ups). Maintenance varies from person to person; some clients may need more visits than others due to the severity or combination of different healing rate, health history, medications, fast metabolisms, oilier skin, and lifestyle factors which may fade pigments much faster than usual. The majority of Kitti’s clients have their brow tattoos touched up every 9-12 months.   THE TOUCH UP PRICES ARE STRICTLY FOR KITTI ALEXIS BROW CLIENTS.

DO I NEED TO PLAN FOR MY TREATMENT?

It is important not to be sunburnt for your appointment. Sunbathing whilst your tattooed area is healing will dramatically fade the tattoo, even if you wear a sunhat. That is not to say you can’t sit in the sun at all, it does however means that having sunburnt skin will impede skin healing and increased sensitivity to pain during procedure.  Wearing Sunscreen (Factor 50) on your brows after the healing phase is over is also recommend every day which will make your brow tattoos last so much longer.   Wash your hair before your appointment. Limit smoking cigarettes as smoking WILL cause the pigment to fade prematurely and anesthetics will not last as long.

Avoid retinol/retinoids at least 3 months prior to your appointment. 72 hours prior to your procedure, avoid taking Aspirin, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen or blood thinners, unless medically necessary- this will just mean that your brows may fade faster than usual and need more frequent touchups. Also avoid caffeine and alcohol intake as it can increase bleeding which reduces pigment retention. Please be aware of this when scheduling your tattoo.  Please do not have your brows waxed as this defeats the purpose of brow reshaping and will cause skin sensitivity.

HOW WILL MY BROWS LOOK AFTER TREATMENT?

Slight redness and/or discomfort may be present for the first two days. This will resolve itself.  The brows will look very sharp immediately after procedure, however once healed they are much softer looking.

The area treated will be darker and more intense, this is normal. This will last a few days until the skin heals and naturally exfoliates and the true colour emerges. The brows may also appear thicker than you might like, however, this settles after 7-10 days, as swelling recedes the brows will shorten slightly as a result. Some swelling may occur which may distort the shape of your brows which is expected. Applying cold compression for 5 minutes may help reduce the swelling.

Depending on skin type and proper aftercare, it is not unusual to see a few strokes fade or disappear from the skin. For example, oily skin will fade pigment faster as the oil continually comes through your skin and dilutes the pigments. This is why a 4-6 week Perfection (top up) visit is needed to correct any healing issues.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?

It is extremely important you do not get water on them for 7 days (includes sweat and steam) as it will dilute the pigments. Please wash your hair before your appointment. A brow shield/ visor will be provided after the procedure so that you can wear during showers. Kitti will provide you with an aftercare kit and instruction sheet that explains everything in thorough detail, Kitti will also explain this to you verbally at the end of your appointment.

DO NOT apply any other kind of creams, ointments, liquids, cleansers, oils – only the recommended aftercare ointment provided by Kitti. You will need to wear the ointment for 7-10 days or until the skin completely heals.  There is higher risk of infection in the first 3-4 days as the skin is an open wound so please avoid touching/scratching/picking your brows or getting hair on your brows.  Please use a fresh pillow case, and do not sleep on your face or eyebrows!  You must strictly follow the aftercare to ensure beautiful brow results.

You cannot swim in the ocean or pool for 14 days as salt water/chlorine draws out the pigment.  Even after your brows are completely healed, it is still important to take care of them. Use proper SPF for sun exposure, avoid any harsh chemicals or abrasive treatments to the brow area.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Most clients feel a little scratch to nothing at all; however, everyone's pain level is different. Topical anaesthetic/ numbing cream is applied 15-30 min prior to procedure, and it is applied during the procedure to maintain the numbing. Some clients naturally feel more sensitive at times of menstruation. If you are extremely sensitive to pain, you can also speak to your Doctor/ Pharmacist beforehand and ask them to advise you for pain relief.

DO YOU CORRECT OTHER PEOPLES WORK?

Due to the popularity of brow tattoos, there has been a huge rise in the amount of brow artists having only undergone a one-day course.  This is the reason why Kitti undertook training with a qualified trainer and assessor to ensure that you receive the best service. Kitti understands that everyone has to start somewhere but please ensure that you do extensive research before selecting your brow artist.  If they have recently qualified, you must be aware that you cannot expect absolute perfection. Unfortunately Kitti is not taking on any correction work at this stage however it will be something that Kitti will add to her service in the near future. I AM ABOUT TO UNDERGO CHEMOTHERAPY, CAN I HAVE MY TATTOOING BEFORE MY TREATMENT?

Ideally yes! It would be great to do your brows before you lose your hair at least 2 weeks prior to chemotherapy, however; If you are currently undergoing chemotherapy, Kitti would need a letter from your Oncologist with their approval. If you have your brows done before you start your chemo, it is usual in this instance to have your top up after the cancer treatment is complete, or sooner if your oncologist approves.

I AM GETTING SURGERY CLOSE TO THE TIME OF MY APPOINTMENT, WILL THIS BE OK?

Minor surgical procedures - Kitti would recommend having them at least 3 weeks before or after your treatment. Any other surgery where you need to under general anaesthetic for, Kitti would recommend waiting at least 4 weeks before booking your appointment. If you are unsure, please consult with your doctor before making your appointment.

CLIENTS ON BLOOD THINNERS

Clients who are on these medications must check with their doctor if it is ok to go ahead with microblading and a GP letter of approval is required.  It is in my experience that clients on Apixaban/ Pradaxa/Aspirin/Warfarin/ Heparin/ Xarelto etc...  that the result can take up to 3/4 visits to achieve the optimum result. This is because the pigment may not sit very well into the hairstroke made, due to blood flow, and its thinness. Please never stop medication without your practitioner’s advice as this can detrimentally affect your health. As a registered nurse, Kitti values your physical wellbeing and it is pointless having beautiful brows if you are not alive to appreciate it!

FISH OIL & IBUPROFEN

Fish oils and Ibuprofen increases bleeding which causes the wound to reject pigment therefore often results in poor tattoo retention. If you are taking them for a boost please discontinue use for a MINIMUM of 7 days prior to your procedure, preferably longer. If you have been advised to take them for medical reasons, please consult with your medical practitioner. This may mean you will need an additional Perfection Visit to achieve optimal results.

WRINKLE RELAXERS & FILLERS

Having botox injection for an hyperactive brow muscle is effective in balancing out an uneven raised brow. However, please ensure you have your Botox/Dysport/Fillers etc, at least 2 Weeks before or 2 Weeks after your brow tattoo appointment to allow time for the substances to settle into your tissues.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH TOPICAL ANAESTHETICS?

If you have sensitivity or allergy to Lidocaine/Prilocaine/ Tetracaine/Epinephrine. Please consult with your GP for alternative pain relief prior to your appointment.

DO YOU TAKE ROACCUTANE?

All medications come into play with the skin.  This means that if you are on daily medication you will most certainly need a Perfection (touch up) Visit.
If you take Roaccutane, Retina, AHA, Glycolic, Doxycycline type of antibiotic, and some other medications, you will need to wait 6 - 12 months from your last medication before getting a cosmetic tattoo, when it comes to your appointment time, Kitti will need your doctor’s note to ensure you are ready to go ahead with the treatment.

ARE YOU DIABETIC?

Diabetics and those with autoimmune disorders may manifest poor wound healing which may not yield optimum tattoo result at the first session.  For diabetics this is especially true if their blood sugar is poorly controlled. With Diabetics, Kitti will ask you to consult your doctor before your appointment to ensure you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing. A touch up appointment may also be required. If you still wish to proceed with your treatment appointment, a waiver form must be signed.

SCARRING

If you have a history of hypertrophic or keloid scarring (raised/ bumpy scars), then cosmetic tattooing is not for you. If you are still wanting to go ahead, Kitti would need to bring a clearance letter from your doctor and you to sign a waiver form.

BLOOD CLOTTING PROBLEMS/ BLEEDING DISORDERS

Kitti would need a clearance letter from your doctor and you would also need to discuss this with her via phone before booking an appointment. You will also be required to sign a waiver form.

HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY /THYROID MEDICATION

Hormonal imbalances and or medications/remedies may cause cosmetic pigment to fade faster and can sometimes (although very rare) alter the change in colour due to pigment base tone. Please bear this in mind when booking your appointment.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY REACTIONS TO HAIR DYE, HENNA ETC?

Please ensure you make Kitti aware of this whilst booking your appointment. Even though brow pigments are not the same, you may need to come in for a patch test before your appt.
